Postpartum Support
Hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, concerns about the care and feeding of a newborn, and the sore body that a newly minted parent is navigating are nothing trivial. Don’t hesitate to reach out for a steadying hand.

With everything you are adjusting to after the birth of your baby, it’s lovely to have someone in your corner. I offer experienced help in areas like infant feeding, the ability to recognize normalcy or identify issues when, perhaps, there are concerns arising about the birthing person’s healing process or the newborn that are edging outside the lines of “typical.”
Everyone in the family can benefit from some additional support in the first tender days and weeks at home with a new baby.
Perhaps you attended childbirth classes with me, or maybe we are only now becoming acquainted. It’s not too late to reach out for support, even if your baby is already here. I work with families throughout the fourth trimester, up until the baby is three months old.
I provide home visits so that you can rest while I help with your questions, check on your healing progress, and make sure you feel confident about taking care of your baby.
We can strategize about ways to get better rest, tend to your body’s changing needs, track your baby’s progress, and address any feeding concerns.
I recognize the enormity of the transitions you are going through on every level, and am here to help you process the big changes, address your physical and emotional concerns, and enhance your healing experience.

Postpartum visits take place in your home, in order to reduce the need for running around and provide real opportunities for rest.
During our appointment I will address any concerns that have arisen since the arrival of your little one. The direction of your care is very much dictated by your unique needs and situation. We will discuss what kind of support you feel you most need at a given time. I expect that may change and am always ready to pivot and adjust accordingly.
Depending on what you are encountering, I may use my skills as a Certified Lactation Counselor to evaluate feedings, tend to any discomforts you may be having, and assist in tracking your newborn’s progress between pediatric appointments.
If you are struggling with any aspect of navigating the complexities of the postpartum period, we can work together to correct course. I want to support you so that you can rest, enjoy bonding with your baby, and heal more effectively.
I provide professional help in determining whether what you are experiencing falls within the “range of normal” (it’s a wide range), with regards to the multiple healing processes going on at once in your body, and can make appropriate referrals whenever necessary.
I can be a sounding board and another pair of eyes on deck, provide physically nourishing, hands-on assistance, drawing on a wide range of skills to help promote rest, increase your comfort level, and smooth the ragged edges that can come with the raw experience of integrating so much.
That can look like anything from tidying up the room to answering questions about newborn care, looking after your little one while you shower, or helping you learn to use a breast pump.
My care can include aiding with physical comfort measures, informational support, light housework to make it easier for you to rest in a nice space, meal preparation, and hands-on help to meet whatever the moment brings, in order to increase your sense of ease.
