Lactation Counseling
Helping you and your baby thrive
-
During our appointment I begin by listening carefully to your concerns. I conduct a thorough assessment by observing a feeding.
Whether you need assistance in correcting an ineffective or painful latch, would like to address issues such as sore nipples, engorgement or breast pain, have milk supply worries or questions about your baby’s weight, I am here to help.
Learning to use a breast pump (and understanding when and why it’s applicable), or navigating supplemental feeding requirements can feel overwhelming amidst all the other hubbub of bringing new life into your home.
Together we come up with a solid feeding plan you feel good about. I make sure your questions are answered, educate about feeding cues and comfortable positioning, infant sleep patterns, and more.
Part of my service includes providing appropriate referrals when necessary.

Your experience during the first days of learning to nurse a baby are, statistically, likely to be the most crucial markers for ongoing success in your breast/chestfeeding experience. But concerns may crop up at any time, and for as long as you’d like to improve the nursing relationship with your little one, it’s never too early or too late to reach out for help.
If you’d like to gain some knowledge and establish a connection before the birth of your baby, check out the infant feeding and childbirth-related educational opportunities offered here.
Breast/chestfeeding is natural, but it’s a learned art. Ensuring that you have a great latch and making adjustments early on is the best way to ensure a comfortable, enjoyable experience that helps your baby grow properly and protects your health.
If you are presently experiencing pain or discomfort, please reach out for an appointment so we can help get you back on track swiftly.
Breastfeeding should never hurt!
